Mother’s Day Mini Cakes - 2020
This year, Mother’s Day , like most events, is a little bit different.
2020 has a lot to answer for so far. I started the year saying to Steve – this is our year! And it did start off amazing. We had a beautiful holiday at an amazing resort (Nora Buri Koh Samui – highly recommend if and when the world goes back to normal: https://www.noraburiresort.com/), we got engaged (YAY US - Anyone wanna plan our wedding for me?) and life was amazing!
Once we got home from Koh Samui, things started to change. We were lucky we just got our holiday in before all the shut downs began. Though it honestly feels like it was years ago now! Then we both had our birthdays in isolation (Mine is in March and Steve is in April). All my lovely wedding couples had to move and postpone their weddings, along with all other events. So all my cakes for the foreseeable future had suddenly vanished and the world as we knew it, had officially changed.
SO for Mother’s Day, I questioned whether I was going to do anything at all? Do I just take a few months off? Would anyone want anything? Last year I made massive dessert boxes. They were a hit! But there wasn’t going to be the big gatherings for people to justify getting these this year. But mums (and grandmas, aunties, wives, sisters etc ) still deserved to be celebrated in some way. Albeit a slightly different way to usual.
So I came up with the idea of pretty little mini cakes for people to pick up or have delivered for mother’s day.
That’s were these little cuties came in.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how adorable these edible blooms are from Simply Rose Petals.
Loving how pretty the pastel cakes and the petals and my homemade and decorated sugar cookies all just work together.
If you are interested, I still have a couple spots left for these mini cakes.
