WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

Picket Fence Cake Design is located in the Sutherland Shire. However we are able to service most of the Sydney Metropolitan area. Please note we are purely an internet based business and do not have an actual shop front at this stage.

 

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY CAKE?

We can be quite busy, so to avoid missing out we recommend placing your order at least 4 weeks prior to the date of your event. If it is placed any later, we can't guarantee that we will be able to accommodate your request. The more notice you are able to provide, the better. Some weeks can book out in advance; however, we will always do our best to accommodate your cake order where possible. As soon as you have your date, you can always secure a spot with a booking deposit just to guarantee your place.

 

HOW DO I GET A QUOTE?

Great question! To ensure you get an accurate quote, there is a bit of information we will require from you. Please fill out the enquiry form  and we will get back to you as soon as we can. 

I HAVE SENT AN ENQUIRY FORM, OR EMAIL WITH MY ORDER. IS MY ORDER GUARANTEED?

Almost. Your order is not secure until you receive quote and make a non-refundable, 50% deposit. Once you have sent your details, we will contact you within 7 days to discuss the details. If you are happy, we will then send you an invoice and the deposit can then be made to secure your order. Keep in mind, if you have not placed an order at least 4 weeks prior to the event date, we cannot guarantee availability for your order. 

 

HOW DO I PLACE AN ORDER?

We recommend that you make an initial enquiry either through the enquiry form or via email, giving us the date, the number of guests you need the cake to serve, the serving size (coffee or dessert), any design ideas and any further information so we can provide you with an accurate quote.

To confirm your order, a 50% deposit is payable, with the balance being due two weeks before the event.

 

HOW MUCH WILL MY CAKE COST?

The final price will depend on various factors, including the size of the cake / number of serves required, and the complexity and detail of the design as each cake is quoted on an individual basis.

HOW DO I PAY FOR MY CAKE?

Please refer to our terms & conditions for full details on payments. Unfortunately, we can experience no-shows. So to avoid us being left out-of-pocket, we require a non-refundable 50% deposit on all orders. Once the deposit is made, your order is secure, and you are free to enjoy the celebrations. The remaining balance is then due TWO WEEKS prior to your event. Payment is via direct deposit into our account. Cash is not accepted on the premises. And balances cannot be paid on the day of collection.

 

I HAVE AN IMAGE OF THE CAKE DESIGN I WANT. CAN YOU REPLICATE THIS?

At Picket Fence Cake Design, we do not copy others work, however, you are more than welcome to send us a photo or photos to use as inspiration. 

 

WHAT FLAVOURS DO YOU OFFER?
We provide chocolate mud, choc mint, white chocolate mud, caramel mud, red velvet, vanilla bean, lemon and raspberry, white chocolate and raspberry, cinnamon and orange and poppyseed. If you don't see your flavour here, make note of it in your enquiry form, or send us an email and we will try our best to assist.

 

CAN I TASTE YOUR CAKES?

Of Course. At the moment, we only provide cake tastings and consultations for weddings. For further information on this, please refer to our Weddings page here, or enquire at info@picketfencecakedesign.com.au

 

CAN I HAVE A DIFFERENT FLAVOUR IN EACH TIER?

Yes! You absolutely can have a different flavour in each tier. With each flavour of cake, we will team it with the complimenting flavour of ganache.

 

DO YOU CATER FOR SPECIAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTS?

Unfortunately, at this stage we are not allergy friendly.

 

CAN I HAVE FOAM “DUMMY” TIERS?

Yes absolutely. If you prefer a really large cake that gives visual impact, but only have a modest guest list, then we can use dummy tiers to create the preferred size.

 

WOULD IT BE CHEAPER FOR MY WEDDING CAKE TO BE “DUMMY” TIERS AND HAVE KITCHEN CAKES TO SERVE MY GUESTS?

No, as it is the same amount of work required to create your wedding cake and the kitchen cakes you will not save on price by doing it this way. However we can do 1 of the tiers as a dummy tier instead of cake, which will save you a small amount.

 

ARE WE ABLE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

We only do consultations for brides & grooms. Due to time constraints we are not able to meet with every client. Most details for cake orders can be finalised via email & the telephone.

 

DO YOU DELIVER AND WHERE TO?

Yes, we most certainly do. We deliver all of our cakes throughout the Sydney Metropolitan area. Delivery charges vary, depending on the distance required to travel. Please contact us for a quotation. We charge a competitive delivery and set up fee based on the number of kilometres travelled to your venue. Longer deliveries are occasionally arranged, but must be determined on a case-by-case basis.

 

DO YOU SET UP CAKES AT THE RECEPTION VENUE?

We sure do. In fact, we highly recommend that you take advantage of this service, in particular when ordering large or irregular shaped cakes, cakes of more than 3 tiers or more, cakes that by their design or construction require assembling and finishing at the venue, and dessert tables.

Alternatively, we can leave your cake with the catering team at the reception venue. As required, we will work with the event venue coordinator and if applicable, your wedding planner or coordinator to ensure that the order is delivered and if required, set-up at the venue at an appropriate time prior to guests arriving at your event.

 

HOW WILL MY CAKE BE PACKAGED?

All of our cakes will be delivered or ready for collection in a cake box and depending on the height, may not have a lid.

 

IF I DECIDE TO COLLECT MY CAKE, HOW WILL I TRANSPORT IT SAFELY?

Generally I’m happy for you to collect cakes of 2 tiers or less. If your cake has multiple tiers, there will be internal supports to ensure its safe arrival at your destination. A flat, solid, non-slip surface is the best location in your car; an empty clear boot, or the passenger side of the vehicle on the floor. Definitely not a car seat! When picking up a large, tiered or irregularly shaped cake, we always recommend that you be accompanied by a passenger that can assist you with the cake during transport. If an order is picked-up, we do not take any responsibility for any damage that may occur to any of our products after the time that the order has been picked up, including during transportation.

 

CAN I COLLECT MY CAKE THE DAY BEFORE MY FUNCTION?

Yes, providing you make prior arrangements with us, we can organise to have your order completed the day before.

 

HOW SHOULD I STORE MY CAKE?

Fondant covered cakes should NOT be stored in the fridge, as this causes condensation. An air conditioned / cool, dry room is best, preferably in the box they were supplied in. Once the cake is cut, the decorations can be removed, and then the cake can be refrigerated for a week, or frozen into smaller portions. Buttercream cakes, naked cakes and cupcakes can be refrigerated, then removed from the fridge and brought to room temperature prior to serving.

Please remember to store away from small children and family pets.

 

HOW DO I STORE MY SUGAR FLOWERS & FIGURINES?

Again, these items should not be refrigerated or frozen. Please wrap in tissue paper and place in a cardboard box in a safe, cool place.

 

CAN I BUY YOUR SUGAR FLOWERS OR FIGURINES ON THEIR OWN?

Sorry our sugar work is designed and created exclusively for each order. These items are not sold separately.

 

DO YOU PROVIDE A CAKE DESIGN SKETCH?

Some cakes do not require this service; however, if we are creating something just for you, we can provide a rough draft. Once the deposit is paid, then a full colour sketch can be requested.
